In the Hans Christian Anderson tale "The Wild Swans" the 11 brothers of a princess were turned into wild swans by their evil step mother. The spell could only be broken if the princess knitted each brother a coat made from nettles. By placing the coat of nettles over her brothers in the form of the swans, the spell would be broken.
