The Goddess, Venus claims the herb as being her own. It became known as Our Lady's Mantle because the leaves resembled the mantle (cloak) of the Virgin Mary. Later, "political correctness" intervened, and the "Our" was taken from the name. To this day, Lady's Mantle is associated with Fashion Magick, Love Magick, Fertility, and all things Feminine.
It is a powerful addition to fertility rituals and spells, and is high in creative vibrations (the womb being the centre of creation). A herb of Water, Lady's Mantle can be used to connect to our emotions, but not so much in the expression of emotions, but rather the control of emotions, especially in relationship with others. It can be helpful, not by suppressing our feelings, but by helping us to look at them in a mature and self reliant manner by connecting us with our own sense of self worth. In line with the influence of Venus, Lady's Mantle is about recognizing our self worth, and learning to love from within.
